Durability and Beauty can go hand-in-hand, literally, when selecting the best faucet and fixture finishes for your bath and kitchen. There are several different metals and looks out there. From brass, copper, nickel, bronze, and chrome to then choosing whether to have a polished or matte finish, the combinations can seem endless. But which one should you choose?

Here’s a quick-glance list of the pros and cons of each:

BRASS

    POLISHED BRASS
    Durable
    High-maintenance
    Must polish to prevent tarnishing
    Shows fingerprints and water spots
    Reasonable price

    SATIN BRASS
    Durable
    Easy to clean
    Reasonable price

BRONZE

    OIL-RUBBED BRONZE and SATIN BRONZE
    Durable
    Easy to maintain
    Hides fingerprints and water spots
    Reasonable price

    Bronze Tip:
Select PVD coatings which bonds the finish to the metal to help minimize  corrosion and scratches.

COPPER

Less durable
Antibacterial properties
Shows fingerprints and water spots

NICKEL

    POLISHED NICKEL
    Durable
    Higher cost
    Warm tone
    Shows fingerprints and water spots

    BRUSHED NICKEL
    Durable
    Higher cost
    Warmer tone than polished nickel
    Hides water spots and fingerprints

CHROME

Durable
Lowest cost
Scratch-resistant
Chrome protects only the surface of a faucet
Shows water spots and fingerprints
If not a brass body, the faucet can still corrode or crack from within

Mixing Metals is a fun way to bring individual style to your space. You CAN choose a polished nickel faucet with black or bronze pendants. You CAN choose a satin nickel fixture / faucet with polished nickel pulls or vice versa. You CAN choose a copper sink with an oil rubbed bronze fixture / faucet. Mix it up and have fun! This space is YOURS.
